Velvet Comet — Everything Blooms at Night | Album Cover Design

Everything Blooms at Night is a personal album cover design project created for Velvet Comet, a fictional British indie pop and psychedelic pop duo.

The concept explores hidden potential and the idea that personal growth often begins before it becomes visible. A small, closed and almost monochromatic flower bud represents an identity that still appears restrained from the outside. Its shadow, however, transforms into an expansive world of colourful plants, geometric forms, moons and constellations, revealing an inner life that is already rich, active and fully developed.

The composition is built around a strong contrast between simplicity and abundance. The isolated bud occupies a quiet area of the coral background, while its oversized shadow becomes the main visual experience. This imbalance makes the metaphor immediately understandable and creates a distinctive silhouette that remains recognisable even at small streaming-platform sizes.

The artistic direction combines conceptual photography with contemporary collage, screen-print-inspired shapes and abstract botanical illustration. Coral, turquoise, violet, orange, yellow and deep blue were used to communicate energy, optimism and creative freedom. The clean outer edges give the artwork a more contemporary finish, while subtle textures within the illustration preserve a tactile, printed quality.

Bold, colour-blocked typography reinforces the playful identity of the artist without competing with the central concept. Its structured arrangement balances the organic complexity of the shadow and helps connect the cover to indie pop, psychedelic design and modern editorial graphics.
