Morrow Fields — The Weather Between Us | Album Cover Design

The Weather Between Us is a personal album cover design project created for Morrow Fields, a fictional British alternative rock and new wave band.

The artwork explores emotional distance, vulnerability and the invisible tension that can develop between two people. Two anonymous figures stand facing each other in a vast, rain-soaked landscape, physically close yet separated by an unresolved space. Their translucent raincoats suggest protection and exposure at the same time: the figures can be seen, but their identities and emotions remain concealed.

The large circular form behind them creates a shared visual boundary, suggesting a recurring emotional cycle, an atmospheric phenomenon or something that once felt complete. Reflections on the wet ground reinforce the themes of memory, identity and separation, while the empty landscape removes any precise geographical context and transforms the scene into an emotional space.

A restrained monochrome palette was chosen to communicate stillness, melancholy and detachment. Small red accents introduce tension and provide a subtle visual connection between the album title and the artwork. Distressed textures, scratches and torn-paper details give the composition a tactile, analogue character inspired by alternative rock and post-punk visual culture.

The widely spaced sans-serif typography adds a controlled new wave influence without relying on obvious retro clichés. Its minimal structure balances the complexity of the image and remains clear across digital platforms, vinyl packaging and promotional applications.
